WELCOMES THE CREATIVE DIRECTOR OF Y/PROJECT, GLENN MARTENS TO NYC.

NICOLE DEMARCO: How did you get started in Fashion?

GLENN MARTENS: I started in fashion by accident. I graduated as an architect at 21, and I really didn't feel like working in the industry. So I was a bit lucky. What could I do now after I entered architecture? And I heard about this quite famous fashion academy in Belgium in Antwerp, and I was like, this could be cute. Also, then I discovered it was in a very beautiful building. I was one of the 18 who actually passed into the exams. And I was like, OK, now, I really have to do this thing. Then I fell in love, actually. But in the first week, I was like, OK, this is actually amazing. I really sucked in the beginning, but it took some time and I managed.

NM: How would you describe your personal style in three words?

GLENN: Uniformly wearing black, super comfortable things as I'm traveling every single week. I'm always on the ground and fitting. So I try to be as neutral, as comfortable and easy to wash and clean.

NM: What's a moment or two that you would consider career-defining?

GLENN: I think every day is a bit career defining. It's never been a routine. Every season we get bigger and bigger. There's more and more things to do. This is like an amazing celebration. It's a blessing.
